Laura Henderson
Annely Juda Fine Art
Laura Henderson is Associate Director of Annely Juda Fine Art in
London where she has worked for ten years. Prior to that she worked
briefly for Gallery Delta in Harare and the National Gallery in
London.
Annely Juda established her first gallery in 1960 and is known for
showcasing works by the Russian avant-garde, Bauhaus and de Stijl
schools, all of which were relatively unknown in Britain at the
time. Today, artists represented include David Hockney, Anthony
Caro, Christo, David Nash and Leon Kossoff as well as contemporary
Japanese artists Yuko Shiraishi, Katsura Funakoshi, and Tadashi
Kawamata.
The gallery has a continual exhibition programme of its contemporary
artists and of important historical artists from the 20th century
avant-garde. It participates in six international art fairs every
year. It aims to promote its artists in their entire commercial
and many of their non-commercial projects.
Working closely with the Gallery Director, David Juda, Laura is
responsible for the exhibition and art fair programme, for selecting
and hanging shows, for promoting the artists and for selling their
work.
Mark Segal
Director of ArtSway
Mark Segal is Director of ArtSway, the contemporary visual art gallery
situated in a small rural village in the New Forest. ArtSway has
developed a strong reputation for supporting the development of
new work by artists (from all stages in their career) through the
Production Residency Programme for presentation at ArtSway.
In recent years ArtSway has developed partnerships for this programme
with a range of national and regional partners including Autograph
ABP, The Goethe Institute, London and the Arts Institute at Bournemouth.
In 2008 ArtSway is collaborating with the Photographers Gallery,
London in a new co-commission.
ArtSway is currently developing and consolidating plans to work
in a legacy approach with artists who have previously undertaken
residencies. This project (ArtSway Associates) aims to exploit the
knowledge and relationship developed through the residency/commission
programme to offer these artists continuing professional support,
advice and advocacy.
Through its audience development programme, ArtSway Xtra, ArtSway
aims to share this process with our audience. Unashamedly borrowing
from commercial sector models as well as established Museum sector
friends’ schemes, this approach is intended to deepen and
extend our partnership with artists while also increasing our audiences
appreciation and understanding of what it means to be a contemporary
artist in 21st century Britain.
The most explicit realisation of this approach to date has been
New Forest Pavilion, ArtSway's multi artist presentation at the
International Art Fair, La Biennale di Venezia in 2005 and 2007.
