The Emerging Territories Award is a new project aimed at developing
the work of early career photographers; open to candidates who are
resident in Belgium, France or the UK and who are up to 35 years
old or who have graduated from a visual arts/photography degree/MA
in 2005. The theme of the project is 'Evolving rural and urban environments
and their populations'. The Centre Regional de la Photographie,
Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France aims to encourage 'artistic and cultural
action between its regional territory and the international neighbouring
countries'.
There are two stages to the application, an initial selection from
submitted applications and then an interview with up to 8 candidates
before a jury made up of professional artists, curators, local councils
and environmental experts. Selected artists will benefit from professional
support in relation to their specific needs whether it is a residency,
commission or publication. Finally the project will culminate in
a group exhibition at the CRP between October and December 2009.
There will be a launch for Emerging Territories on Monday 13 October
6.30-8.30pm when the Director Pia Viewing will introduce the award
and present the history of CRP.
Application details are available to download in English and French
along with an application form and flyer about the project. All
applications must be sent to the CRP by Tuesday 27 October 2008
(applications sent to Fabrica will not be accepted).
