Walter Bailey

Working in woodland is important to me, for there I am in touch with the rhythms of seasonal time. There is a particular joy for me at the transitional points of the year. The gentle appearance of spring that quickens into the roaring growth and frenetic activity of late spring, the silence after the heavy leaf fall of autumn. Walter Bailey, Artist

Time and physical prescience underlie my work. They reside in my fascination with process and are intrinsic to the way in which my works come to exist. In recent years a constant re-rooting of self and possessions has also sought to define a need to create works which have found meaning in place and are transient in nature.

The physical act of making is, for me, a private celebration of process. My understanding of a process is how I hope to discover things, where the latent properties of a material can be revealed and from which new work can grow. Pak Keung Wan, Artist
