Permeate was a project designed to address a lack of diversity within visual arts organisations in the south east.

Definitions of diversity vary considerably, in this instance Permeate  looked to increase the representation of people with a disability or from a BME (Black and minority ethnic) background. The lack of diversity was addressed through the creation of a series of internships within visual arts organisations and the enabling of skill sharing and knowledge transfer between the organisations and the individuals taking part.

Permeate was initiated by the Arts Council. Fabrica acted as host partner, managing the project during its pilot phase (2010/11). Since then Permeate has broadened it’s remit to include museums and is now in its second pilot phase managed by The Lightbox.
