THE UNDERCROFT
Vincent Mauger
5 July - 25 August
Sculptor Vincent Mauger has been commissioned to construct a futuristic
sci-fi landscape, designed to complement and react against the internal
church architecture of Fabrica.
Mauger uses everyday materials gleaned from building suppliers and
DIY stores to create beautifully crafted objects and exquisite environments.
At first sight they are reminiscent of computer aided designs, but
closer inspection reveals an artisans pride in well made, intricate
detail.
Vincent Mauger lives and works in Rennes.
Over the past year he has had his work shown in several significant
European galleries, these include Code/Buro in Brussels, gallerie
LH, Paris, MCNN in Nevers and the Museum of Modern Art in St Etienne.
This commission will be Vincent's first solo exhibition in Britain.
A blog recording the development of the installation and some of
the themes and issues that surround it is being written by Jonathan
Swain, the exhibition's project manager. This can be seen in Artists
Unedited on AN publications website.
