PLACEMENTS

Our placements programme aims to offer structured work-based learning opportunities to support career development

and to open up opportunities for working in the arts sector to people from all backgrounds. 

Each year Fabrica offers placements for students in further education across the following areas of the organisation;

audience development, comms and marketing and gallery front of house. Opportunities for people who aren't in

education are within our archiving project.

Placements run for a year at one day a week. Previous experience of working in an arts organisation is not a requirement to

undertake an internship at Fabrica.

Fabrica Student Placements - Marketing and Comms Placement - One day a week.

Fabrica is delighted offer a volunteer office placement for motivated and proactive individuals whether in education, with or

without previous office experience, interested in working at a vibrant contemporary art gallery in the heart of Brighton:

 

The Marketing and Comms Student Placement is a year long placement at one day a week, running January  2020 - January

2021. The successful candidate will spend the first 3 months with the office manager solely focusing on gaining an overall

understanding  of the organisation and routine administrative tasks, followed by 9 months which will focus on marketing

Fabrica’s exhibitions and projects , while continuing to support the office manager and other staff members in their duties

dependent on your personal interests and professional development needs.

A passion for visual arts is essential as well as good customer care skills, excellent time management, a pro-active attitude,

willingness to learn and the desire to engage with all aspects of Fabrica. Working independently and alongside the Office

Manager, Gallery Manager and Front of House team in a busy and dynamic office, you will gain essential skills vital in

developing a career in the arts.

This placement is particularly suitable for those aiming to follow a career in arts marketing and/or arts administration but

equally offers a good grounding and essential management and organisational skills for anyone wishing to pursue a

career in the wider arts sector.

ABOUT 

FABRICA

Fabrica Student Placements - Audience Development - One day a week.

Fabrica, Brighton’s Centre for Contemporary Art, is delighted offer specialist placements to motivated and proactive students interested in working at a vibrant contemporary art gallery in the heart of Brighton.

 

The Audience Development Placement is for students who are interested in arts engagement and who is looking to develop their own professional skills. During this placement you will gain front-of-house and behind-the-scenes knowledge and experience in: administration, recruitment, volunteer management, events organisation, education, participation, fundraising, data collation and marketing.

 

The successful candidate will spend 3 months with the office manager to gain an overall understanding of the organisation and develop their own admin skills, followed by 9 months with the Audience Development Manager to develop our programme of events and projects to attract new audiences.

During your placement you’ll understand Fabrica’s mission as an organisation and gain in-depth experience in Audience Development. You will also take on specific projects, in particular you will work with our events and engagement team to plan and coordinate our Chomp events, which offer a creative lunch club for families.
